A FEW GOOD THINGS TO KNOW

From a recording
to your next idea.

Bring almost any recording.

This audio to MIDI converter accepts MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG, M4A, AAC, AIFF and WMA. You can also choose MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV or WebM to transcribe the first audio track. Container support depends on the audio codec; encrypted or damaged media cannot be decoded.

Choose. Convert. Make it yours.

Choose a recording, select a section and convert it, or open an existing MIDI. Compare the original with the synth at the same position. Select or drag notes, adjust pitch and timing, transpose, change speed or apply an optional grid. Every note edit can be undone. Download MIDI or a simple synthesized WAV.

A useful starting point, not a perfect score.

Clear single melodies and isolated instruments work best. Chords can be detected, but dense mixes, drums, reverb and overlapping instruments may produce missing, extra or incorrect notes. This tool does not separate instruments into independent tracks. It does not preserve the original sound or export pitch bends.

Local processing has real limits.

Audio: up to 100 MB and 15 minutes, with sections up to 5 minutes for conversion. MIDI: format 0/1, PPQ timing, up to 5 MiB, 20,000 notes and one hour. Synth WAV export supports up to 10 minutes. Unsupported files are rejected, never silently trimmed. Processing speed depends on your device; keep this tab open and use short clips on phones. The local model loads when needed. If your browser cannot decode a format, a roughly 31 MiB decoder downloads from jsDelivr or unpkg; your audio stays on this device. Your source file is processed in memory, never uploaded or saved to a history.

QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

Before you press play.

Is MP3 to MIDI the same as changing an audio format?

No. MIDI stores note instructions rather than recorded sound. Transcription estimates those notes from your recording. It is not a lossless format conversion.

Can I use this as a WAV to MIDI converter?

Yes. WAV uses the same local transcription workflow as MP3 and the other supported formats. A clean recording matters more than the file extension.

Can I convert a full song or chords?

You can try a song within the limits. The model supports polyphonic notes, but it works best with one instrument at a time. It does not reliably recreate an entire arrangement or separate instruments. Start with a short, clear section.

What if the MIDI has too many or too few notes?

Move Note detection toward “Fewer stray notes” to reduce weak detections, or toward “More detail” to recover quieter notes, then convert again. These settings change detection thresholds, not the model's accuracy. Short adjacent fragments of the same pitch are joined by default. Turn this off for fast repeated notes. This cleanup is a heuristic, not a guarantee. Inspect and edit the result in your DAW.

Does my file leave my device?

No. Audio decoding and note recognition happen in your browser. No conversion API, analytics, login or file upload is used. Closing the page clears its in-memory work.

Why are there no notes in my result?

Silence, unpitched percussion, speech and very noisy recordings may not yield stable musical notes. Try a clear instrumental phrase. An empty result is reported honestly; no placeholder MIDI is generated.
